The first Christ the Victor Church Plant School was held in May, 2012. From that school, three Wichita church plants were commissioned to continue carrying out their call to plant churches among the urban poor.

CHRIST THE VICTOR CHURCH - CentralCTV Central

Manolo and Jodi Saenz are missionaries involved in planting Christ the Victor Church (CTV). Manolo is the pastor and church plant leader of this church plant. They have two children, Nadia and Tytus.

This church started in June, 2008 at the home of Daren and Tina Busenitz. It moved to another missionary home on Volutsia in January, 2009. The church plant has gone through a number of different transitions since it began and continues to be a growing body of believers who have a heart for outreach in their community and beyond.

The church currently meets every Sunday evening at 2307A. E. Central (near the corner of Central and Grove, which is next to World Impact’s Second Blessing Thrift Store). Christ the Victor Church also holds weekly men’s and women’s Bible studies and prayer walks.

ICV Emporia

LA IGLESIA DE CRISTO VICTORIOSO - Emporia

Gerson and Mayra Berrios, the pastor and his wife of La Iglesia de Cristo Victorioso (ICV), are partnering with World Impact to plant a Spanish-speaking church in the neighborhood north of downtown Wichita. They have three children, Gerson Jr., Richie and Cassie. In addition to being the pastor at ICV, Gerson also works full-time. Audrey Hanneman (World Impact missionary) and Rachel Busenitz (dedicated volunteer) are supporting members on this church plant team.

ICV began meeting together for Sunday evening services in January, 2010. They started in a World Impact missionary home on Market St. and later moved to their current location at 1157 N. Emporia. La Iglesia de Cristo Victorioso has services on Sunday evenings at 5:30 PM and Thursday evenings at 7:00 PM. The Lord is doing great things in growing the believers of this church! A number of people from the church were recently baptized at our annual family camp!

The church continues to reach out to the growing Spanish-speaking community in the surrounding neighborhoods through ministry to children, teens and adults. The team is also involved in prayer walking in the community and connecting with people through the World Impact Thrift Store (on the corner of Waco and 13th St.).

ICV Homestead

LA IGLESIA DE CRISTO VICTORIOSO - Homestead

Alvaro and Orpha Mora are partnering with us to plant a Spanish speaking church in the Northeast area of Wichita. They have three children, Heidy, a junior in college, Bryant, a recent high school graduate and Steven, a junior in high school. All three children are very active in the church plant.

Alvaro and Orpha both have full-time jobs on top of their church plant responsibilities. They have had the call to minister all of their married life. Orpha grew up in ministry as her father was a church planter in California. Alvaro worked alongside his father-in-law in church planting for many years before they moved to Wichita. The Moras have been students in The Urban Ministry Institute (TUMI) here in Wichita for the past four years and Alvaro is now teaching a Spanish TUMI Capstone Bible course in his church plant. Alvaro and Orpha minister to the poor in Wichita as well as international students who attend Wichita State University.

PRAYER REQUESTS FOR OUR CHURCH-PLANT AREAS:

  • Pray that men and women in each community will come to know Christ as their Savior, and then be discipled and raised up as leaders in the church plants.
  • Pray that the churches will have effective outreach as they continue to take the truth of Jesus to those who need to hear. Pray that people will be drawn to Jesus and to His church.
  • Pray for wisdom as the church plants seek to follow the Lord’s leading in the future as they carry out the vision He gave to them at the church plant school.
